Students:
I want my voice to be heard. How do I make sure that what I
write is included in the Q Guide?
Let your opinion be known! The Q Guide editors state: We can't tally your comments
if they don't pass some sort of judgment on an aspect of the course. We're always
reading comments like, "there were 300 pages of reading per week" - with no further
explanation. Tell us what you think about those 300 pages of reading! Too much?
The right amount? Too little, perhaps? Is it good reading? Interesting? Maybe too
complicated? These sorts of substantive, opinionated remarks are what make the
Q Guide a useful source of information.
Professors also have access to your responses, as do section leaders for information specifically about themselves. They receive your opinions verbatim. In addition to helping other students assess potential courses through the Q Guide, your feedback can be a valuable tool for instructors. Constructive input can provide new perspective on teaching. The more detailed you can be with your thoughts, the more helpful your evaluation.
The Q Guide includes courses with more than seven responses. The Q editors incorporate all relevant comments made by at least 10% of the course's respondents.

now.
You will be prompted for your HUID and PIN.
Will my professors or teaching fellows have access to my comments
before grades are submitted?
No. Instructors and TFs will only receive their courses' evaluation results after
their final grades for the semester have been submitted to the Office of the Registrar.
I enter my HUID and PIN before filling out the forms. How can
the online evaluations possibly be anonymous?
Your comments and evaluations are completely anonymous to your course instructors
and TFs. No identifying information (such as HUID or name) will be passed on to
them, nor will they be able to link this information to your responses.
Will the evaluation reports contain demographic information
that might possibly be used to identify me?
The system does not report any demographic information such as your HUID and/or
PIN. We report only the information contained in your verbatim responses.
I am trying to fill out my course evaluations and cannot find
my instructor.
If your instructor does not appear in either of the menus for Instructor or Section
Leader, write to evals@fas.harvard.edu
with your instructor's name and email address. Your instructor will be added.
I am a cross-registered student, and do not have a Harvard ID
(HUID).
Cross-registered students who have not yet been assigned a Harvard cross-registration
identification (ID) number should contact the Educational Records Office to request
their official cross-registration number by telephone at (617) 495-4655 for Undergraduates,
or (617) 495-1519 for Graduates.
I lost / do not have a PIN.
To obtain a new PIN or retrieve a lost PIN, visit www.pin.harvard.edu. If
you have an email address on file, it should arrive fairly quickly; otherwise it
may be 3-10 days until the new PIN arrives to you via mail.
Who should I contact with further questions?
If you have other questions, please contact Kevin Heaps, University Management Fellow for Course Evaluations, by email at evals@fas.harvard.edu or by telephone at (617) 496-1098.
Faculty and Section Leaders:
When do I register for the Q and customize questions?
The online course evaluations for the 2007-2008 spring semester will be open for registering
and customizing from Wednesday, April 9 through Wednesday, April 16. As a course
head you may customize up to 3 questions on your course evaluation, thereby tailoring
your evaluation to receive specific feedback. You can also make sure that all section
leaders are listed with their proper titles so they will be evaluated too.
Register & Customize now. You will be prompted for your HUID and PIN.
When will my students fill out the evaluations?
The online course evaluations for the 2007-2008 spring term will open Wednesday, April 23, and all will remain open until Thursday, May 29 (one week following the conclusion of exam period).
How can I monitor my students' response rates?
On Wednesday, April 23 students may begin to fill out the Q evaluations. You may
monitor the response rate for your course by clicking the link below.
Monitor response rate now. You will be prompted for your HUID and PIN.
When will evaluation reports be released?
Course evaluation results will be made available to Course Heads approximately two
weeks after the end of term. In order to view results, final grades must have been
submitted to the Office of the Registrar. Teaching Fellows will receive direct access
to their personal evaluations approximately two to three days later.
How do I view my evaluations?
An email containing a link to your evaluations will be sent to you when the results
are ready (approximately two weeks after the end of term). Once the evaluation results
are posted, you can also click on the link below and log in with your HUID and PIN
to view the responses. You can view all your past semesters' online comments through
this link as well.

I logged into the system with my HUID and PIN, but do not see
any evaluations, or am getting an error message.
You may have accessed the system before results are ready. If you do not remember
your PIN, please visit www.pin.harvard.edu.
If the problem persists, contact evals@fas.harvard.edu.
I am a Course Head, but can only see part of the results for
my course.
If you are a head of the course and also taught a section, the system may have difficulty
recognizing that you should have access to the entire course results. Please contact
the course evaluations staff at evals@fas.harvard.edu
to have your access corrected.
What is the percentage of students who completed an evaluation
for my course?
When the course evaluation reports are released online, the student response rate
will be listed in each course report. While evaluations are open you may monitor
student response rates as well.
Can I receive a hard copy of my course evaluations?
A PDF with your complete results will be available online so that copies can be
easily printed. If you need assistance with this process, many departmental administrators
have access to the results and may be able to help. With the move to online evaluations
and data reporting, paper copies of the evaluations will no longer be provided.
Who should I contact with further questions?
If you have other questions, please contact Kevin Heaps, University Management Fellow
for Course Evaluations, by email at evals@fas.harvard.edu
or by telephone at (617) 496-1098. If you wish to discuss your Q results, please
